Did you know ...
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Yamaha's 4-stroke snowmobiles!
It feels like yesterday Yamaha unveiled the 2003 RX-1, the world's first production 4-stroke snowmobile. Between the hype, technology and benefits of 4-stroke engines, there remained some skepticism. After actually riding one, however, and experiencing the thrilling performance, unbeatable reliability and distinct sound, no one could deny that “thumpers” were here to stay.
Our commitment hasn't changed. Since 2003, Yamaha has rolled out seven true, high-performance, sport-minded 4-stroke engines. There's no disputing the quality, reliability and durability built into each and every Yamaha. If one area was lacking, though, it's that a 4-stroke engine is heavier and requires more effort to turn a corner. (A small chink in their armour when all things considered.)
But that's no longer an issue, not with Yamaha's exclusive Electric Power Steering system. Last year, Yamaha introduced the New Apex with power steering. As with our initial 4-stroke sled, EPS was met with mixed reviews … until it was experienced. Ask any magazine editor, Apex owner or anyone who has ridden an Apex with EPS; they will tell you how steering effort is reduced, that the machine feels lighter, and how EPS isolates you from the harsher feedback coming back through the bars.
For 2012, power steering is now standard on the RS Vector GT/ L-TX and two-up RS Venture GT/TF, as well as all three Apex models. That's a total of seven, high performance Yamaha 4-stroke snowmobiles equipped with EPS.
The question isn't, 'What do you ride?' It's 'How long can you ride?'
